A long serving Beccles Town Councillor, Caroline Topping, has resigned from Beccles Town Council after many years serving the community.

Mrs Topping became a councillor in 2007 and was mayor in two consecutive years in May 2013 to May 2015 and was deputy mayor in 2012-13.  She had a brief break from the council in 2015 when she became a district councillor and then became a town councillor again 18 months later.

Recently, Mrs Topping has served as the Chair of the council’s Assets & Environment Committee.

Deputy Mayor, Christine Wheeler, said ‘This is a very sad time for the council in that we have lost such an enthusiastic and competent councillor who has worked tirelessly for her community for very many years.  Whilst she will still remain as a Beccles District Councillor, her presence on Beccles Town Council will be very much missed’
