Waveney Commuity Forum

The Waveney Community Forum was set up in 2000 by local charities and community groups
who recognised the need for an umbrella organisation to represent the interests of the voluntary sector in Waveney. Since October 2005, the Waveney Community Forum has lead the rural community partnership which includes the four Market Towns in Waveney, Waveney District Council and Suffolk County Council. The aim of the Rural Community Partnership, through their rural
community development officers on the group, is to support new and established groups in the Four
Market Towns. In addition to providing information and advice, we have set up a rural community website, a public transport group and continue to work with our partners to develop innovative projects in and around the Four Towns.

What has been achieved in Beccles so far:
• Organised funding surgeries for local groups
• Guided groups and individuals through grant application forms
• Helped individuals setting up community and voluntary organisations
• Initiated projects working in partnerships with Schools, Churches, local charities and public sector organisations
• Attended meetings to voice the interests of local people and community groups
• Helped alongside local community and voluntary groups and non-profit making organisations raising grants and funds.
